Lowongan Kerja Update BOS Foundation (Yayasan BOS)


The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS F) is a non-profit organization supported by sister organizations around the world. It is consistently audited by a multinational auditor company and operating under the formal agreement with the Indonesian Ministry of Forest to conserve and rehabilitate orangutans. BOS manages orangutan rescue, rehabilitation and re-introduction programmes in East and Central Kailmantan. With almost 1000 orangutans to care for and over 400 staff BOS is the biggest primate conservation NGO worldwide. BOS is employing top notch professionals in the fields of biology, specifically primatology, of psychology, veterinary medicine, botany and forestry.

BOS F is funded by and cooperates with other NGOs and national BOS sister organizations abroad. BOS Global is the Fundraising arm of BOS F and is the umbrella of the BOS sister organizations. The international animal welfare organisation VIER PFOTEN is the major donor to the Samboja Satwa programme. VIER PFOTEN employee Dr. Signe Preuschoft is a primatologist who is acting as Satwa Manager Advisor to support and train the incoming Satwa manager and a fresh team of Satwa Coordinators and Supervisors.

BOS F policy makers are organized in a Board of Trustees and a Board of Supervisors. From 2010 on, its executives are headed by one CEO who directs the departments of Finance and Administration, of Human Resources (all based in Bogor) of Fundraising/BOS Global (based in Stockholm), and the Managers of the regional Programmes at Samboja, Nyaru Menteng, and Mawas.

Work Post
The successful applicants will work in a team for the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, based in Samboja, East Kalimantan, for 1 year, with a 6 month period of probation.



Satwa Manager (Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation: Samboja Satwa Programme)





Responsibilities:

  • realise and fully endorse BOS F’s Vision and Mission as well as Core Values
  • streamline all programme resources to towards orangutan welfare and conservation
  • plan, oversee and control all project expenditures
  • manage the Samboja Satwa team through directing, consulting and cooperating with the programme coordinators and supervisors as well as the HR department
  • manage the programme by master minding long-term scenarios, project planning and budgeting
  • quality management of the programme by consulting with internal and external experts, regular staff appraisals, and setting up and applying performance indicators
  • manage the programme assests and human resources in a sustainable and conscientious manner
  • liaise with donors as to fulfill contracts and MoUs and proactively share information on programme needs and achievements
  • cooperate with the BOS G ED and Fundraising units
  • balance and reconcile interests of multiple donors according to existing contracts and by providing recommendations for contract negotiations.
  • report to BOS F CEO as required
  • write English reports on financial and project activities for donors, as required
  • proactively recruit CEO’s/BOS support to programme activities
  • to represent the programme and the interests of orangutans vis a vis all stakeholders in a competent, courteous and dignified manner
  • to represent the programme, the organization, and the interests of orangutans competently vis a vis all public media
  • lobbying for the programme with stakeholders
  • balance and strategically prioritise multiple stakeholder interests for the benefit of orangutan wellbeing and conservation
  • ROLE : Manager of Samboja Satwa Programme for Orangutan Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release
  • REPORTS TO : BOS Foundation CEO
  • STAFF MANAGED : Four direct reports, 70 in total
  • MAIN TASKS : Manage BOS F’s Samboja Satwa Programmes, i.e. all orangutan and sunbear related activities in East Kalimantan, liaise with international and national donors to the Samboja programmes, and with stake holders on the regional and national levels, full budget responsiblity.

Requirements:

  • Training in Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Psychology or Management (Masters or Ph.D. level)
  • At least 3 years experience with managing multiple staff
  • Proven management skills, incl. both project planning and improvising
  • Proven leadership skills towards direct reports, peers, and bosses
  • Fluent Indonesian language skills, spoken and written
  • Fluent English Language skills, spoken and written
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to write concise reports in English
  • Experienced in leading negotiations in multi-stakeholder situations with conflicting interests
  • Frustration tolerance and trouble shooting capabilities
  • Networking with experts and professionals
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with people in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Capability to work both individually and as part of a team
  • Respect for animals
  • Preferable
    • Experience with observing/censusing wild orangutans in the field
    • Understanding of ape behaviour and psychology
    • Experience with re-introcdution of long-lived species to original habitat
    • Experience of working in or with NGOs
    • Experience with conservation and management of protected areas and species
    • Experience with western/international organisations and management style
